Sale Fit 'Sex' Fans, Even If Clothes Didn't

Photographs by Nancy Siesel/The New York Times

Francesca Cercena, with her 4-month-old son, Riccardo Piovan, combed the racks at the "Sex and the City" clothing sale at Ina, a consignment shop that had acquired items from the show's costume department.

NY Times
Rarely have so many shoppers given so many bosses so many excuses. And all because of a television show that is no longer on.
If that paragraph did not explain the line outside a store on Prince Street yesterday and the rifling of racks inside, this one will. Hey there, bosses, pay close attention now: If you had gone to the "Sex and the City'' clothing sale, you too would be as stylishly outfitted and as carefully accessorized as all those employees who showed up late yesterday. And you too would have missed your morning meeting....(full article)

Sales & BargainsFull Story

"When consignment shops started cropping up all over town a few seasons back, most fashion-savvy shoppers dismissed them as glorified thrift shops. But now many more of the people whose clothes you want -- models, boutique salesgirls, and a surprising portion of the younger best-dressed-list -- are learning to turn castoffs into cab fare. At these stores, you can snap up what they wore last season at bargain prices or trade in your own to supplement a spring shopping budget.
For the trendiest pickings from American and European runways -- mixed in with rather chic no-name clothes -- visit INA"

"Spies in the house of Condé Nast report seeing fashion editors piling unwanted fall clothes, bags and purses into their Town Cars and sending them to Ina, a hip resale store with several locations around town."

The Scene
A study in white pressed tin and black hardwood floors with Korn on the sound system. Relax--no one's going to elbow you out of the way to get to the racks. You're not going to find gently-used, lovingly-tended designer clothes at these prices anywhere else. A staggering variety of shoes, including scads of Miu Miu slides, plus lots of Prada, Sigerson Morrison, Gucci and Manolo Blahnik

Who's Buying
Nolita girls on their way home from brunch. The quiet, unassuming solo shopper who never thought she'd actually be able to afford fancy dresses that do "Day-to-Night Barbie" duty.
